This afternoon I met virtually with Andy Clarke, the Public Affairs Manager at ASDA, to raise the concerns of my constituents regarding social distancing in the store at Durkar.
During the call, I stressed the importance of all businesses, including ASDA, adhering to the social distancing and COVID secure rules designed to keep shoppers safe. I completely accept that large businesses shouldn’t have any advantage over smaller businesses – many of which have spent thousands to put COVID secure guidelines in place.
I was reassured to hear that ASDA is taking action in order to prevent bottlenecks in certain parts of their Durkar store, as well as ensuring a marshal is on the door at all times to ensure the store is always at or under capacity.
Whilst understanding the complexity of the issue we face, we must ensure that the guidelines are followed to keep people safe and slow the spread of the virus.
