I am absolutely delighted that a portion of the £257 million ringfenced for theatres, arts venues, museums and cultural organisations across England is going to fantastic organisations and venues in Wakefield. This funding is a part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.
Wakefield is a cultural hub, and the sector was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Culture Recovery Fund has been designed to protect our much loved cultural venues.
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park will receive £804,013.
Theatre Royal Wakefield will receive £475,000.
The Creative Art House will receive £161,000.
West Yorkshire Theatre Dance Centre will receive £79,835.
The announcement today was for Round 1 applications, and the funds are being administered by Arts Council England. In this first round, Wakefield has received a total of £1,519,848.
This Government is supporting culture and the arts in #Wakefield, and right across the United Kingdom. #HereForCulture
